| Wevertown is a small hamlet in the town of Johnsburg, about 8 miles east of North Creek. It was originally a tannery and called at times Nobles Corners. There is not much happening there, just one or two stores. All the stuff you need can be found down the road in North Creek, like food, gas, groceries and dining. The state has fishing access on Mine Creek, east of the NY 8 junction on NY 28. There is a 40 MPH speed zone and a traffic light at the junction of NY Route 8. South on NY 8 will take you through the Siamese Ponds Wilderness area down to NY Route 30 in Wells then up the hill to Speculator. North will take you to Chestertown on US 9, then the Adirondack Northway, I-87 at Exit 25. |
