Morehouse, Hoffmeister, Oxbow Lake, Piseco Lake

NY Route 8 is basically a north-south route that goes through through Utica and connects it to the Adirondacks.When you first get into Hamilton County, you pass Morehouse, which has Hoffmeister. There is not much there but lots of good state wilderness land. Then, in the town of Arietta, east of junction NY 10, you go by the hamlets Piseco Lake and pretty little Oxbow Lake . NY 10 ends at about the middle of Piseco Lake, with the outlet on the west side. There is a small, usually unmanned airport west of Piseco Lake. Also you pass by plain old Sacandaga Lake, not the "GREAT" one in Fulton and Saratoga County. This area is well settled with vacation camps, with the only general store and gas at Piseco. Basically, the road is good and wide, but marred by lots of frost heaves after this wet winter.
