Inlet is the westernmost town in Hamilton County, before Herkimer County, on the Fulton Lake Chain, between Fourth & Sixth Lake. FYI: The Fulton Lake Chain was created out of the Moose River and extends past Old Forge. Inlet has a fair sized public beach and recreation area right in the center of the hamlet on Fourth Lake. Arrowhead Park has basketball & tennis courts, playground, public beach and docks and good restrooms. Plus the town runs a good xc country ski park to the south of NY 28. Being on the Fulton Chain, there's plenty of canoeing and rafting. Inlet also covers the other numbered lakes all the way to Eighth Lake.
The route through the hamlet center winds down a big hill in a 30 mph zone with a hard bend to the right just before the lakes. It's good to be to be cautious here. It is very busy and has lot's of walkers during season, plus snowmobilers in the winter. But hte road has been repaved all the way through Eagle Bay as of Fall 06.
